Toenail fungus infection is characterized by thickening and hardening of the nails, making it brittle and discolored. Medically called onychomycosis, nail (specifically, toe nail) fungus is typically caused by Trichophyton rubrum, Candida species, and occasionally, some species of molds. Onychomycosis often starts as a yellow or white area on the tip of the toenail or fingernail. 3. Turmeric. Mix some water with turmeric powder to make a paste and apply this on the toenails. Allow the paste to dry, rinse off and properly dry your feet.
4. Lime juice. Soak the toes in concentrated lime juice or soak a cotton ball and rub it on the toes at least thrice a day.
5. Garlic is one of the best known natural antifungals. Crush raw garlic gloves and apply it on the toenails. You can also dust your feet, toenails, or shoes and socks with garlic powder.
